Mornington School principal Brent Caldwell laps up the support of pupils and staff, who dressed in green and held up green sheets yesterday as part of the nationwide Green Day.

The event was a show of support for primary and intermediate principals, who are in collective agreement negotiations with the Ministry of Education at present.

Primary and intermediate principals who are NZEI members rejected a collective agreement offer from the ministry in June because it failed to give them parity with secondary principals.

They have been taking strike action since the start of July, and will meet at a series of paid union meetings next week to decide whether to accept the ministry’s latest offer or escalate industrial action.
