Wool On event could be unravelling

Central Otago's WoolOn Fashion Awards could be in jeopardy, with an emergency AGM being called to discuss the future of the event.

The emergency meeting is set to be held in Alexandra next week, chaired by Central Otago Mayor Tim Cadogan.

A statement by the Central Otago District Council says the previous WoolOn co-chairwomen, Leonie Williamson and Karla Sanders, both stepped down from their roles at the AGM earlier this month.

But with no current committee members willing to fill the chairperson role, the meeting was adjourned.

Cadogan says the previous chairwomen had done a momentous job, but without people willing to step into the roles of chairperson and secretary, WoolOn is in jeopardy.

Another hurdle to be overcome is a venue, as the one used for the last two WoolOn events was no longer available.
