Couple killed in chopper crash leaving wedding

What should have been one of the happiest moments of a young couple's lives turned tragic over the weekend when the helicopter ferrying them to their honeymoon crashed just west of San Antonio.

Will Byler and Bailee Ackerman were both seniors at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, according to the Houstonian, the school's student-run newspaper.

They were married over the weekend at Byler's family ranch near Uvalde, Houston TV station KTRK reported. After the ceremony, the newlyweds took off in a Bell 206B helicopter reportedly piloted by a man employed by a firm owned by Byler's family.

The crash, which killed all three, happened just 90 minutes after the wedding.

Federal investigators are looking into the incident.

In a message on The Knot, details on the wedding and related events had been replaced on Monday by a message acknowledging the incident.

"Our deepest sympathies and thoughts are with this family at their great loss," the message said. "We know both families appreciate all your love, support and kindness during this time."

Details on funeral services have not yet been released.
