Man crashes stolen car injuring six in Brisbane

A man has been charged after allegedly stealing a car at gunpoint and causing a crash that left six people in hospital in Brisbane's southside.

A police helicopter tracked the 23-year-old, and tyre spikes were used to try and stop the stolen vehicle, before it collided with several cars at Sunnybank on Monday night.

He was arrested a short time after he tried to steal another car from someone who stopped to help him.

Six people were taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital, Mater Hospital and Lady Cilento Children's Hospital with varying injuries.

The man has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and two counts of unlawful entry of a motor vehicle and will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Tuesday.

Police are still hunting a man and two women believed to have been with the offender during the carjacking.

One of the women is said to be dangerous, with people asked not to approach her.

She is also wanted over an attempted carjacking in Cannon Hill last Friday in which her accomplice allegedly produced a tomahawk before the pair fled.
