Snorkel used to help buried boy breathe

An 11-year-old boy has been rescued after he was buried alive when the hole he was digging on an Adelaide beach collapsed on top of him.

Jordan Spraggs was digging the hole at Horseshoe Bay at the Port Elliot Caravan Park on Thursday when it collapsed on top of him, covering him with more than a metre of sand, the Nine Network reports.

Rescuers, including the boy's mother, beach-goers and an off-duty policeman, found a snorkel tube for the boy to breathe through as they dug him out. He was taken to South Coast Hospital at Victor Harbour.
