Beautiful daffodils lined the fronts of the meandering gardens surrounding the house and on the driveway to the farmhouse of Judy and Tony Matthews farm on Kakapo Road, Te Anau.

Judy is the Convenor of the Te Anau Flower Show and is no surprise to see such variety and quality of blooms. She recently opened up her “Garden in Progress”, she called it, for the first time to over 35 people at a garden luncheon.

It was held on behalf of the Association of Anglican Women (AAW) Te Anau, who catered for the event of which Judy is a member. The event was to assist with raising funds for the Hamlin Charitable Fistula Hospital Trust, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopa. The AAW Te Anau has been supporting the Trust for some years.

It was the first time this had been organised for the Trust and Judy anticipates opening up her garden again with a better display of daffodils.

Judy said ”This year there was an early season topped with two late seasonal dumps of snow, proved a bit of a problem with the display”.
