Up to 60 swimmers enjoyed the warm weather for the “Free Swim” celebrating the official opening of the Fiordland Community Swimming Pool on Sunday, October 9.
The Pool Committee have invested in two new inflatable pool toys, George the caterpillar and Ringo, which were very well received. This is the fourth consecutive season that the Committee has offered a free swim to thank the community for their generosity and support.
Ongoing improvements to the pool area continue, with new pool covers arriving, which will make it more user friendly with key holders. 40 cubby holes for storing personal belongings of swimmers have already been installed in the pool area.
Last season, the pool completed a sponsorship board to acknowledge the support from the Fiordland Community, Southland and National funders, Community Trust of Southland, Meridian Energy, The Southern Trust, Lotteries and Pub Charity.
