I also question whether the green substance in Lindsay Creek was harmful to wildlife.
Yesterday (19 December) I was stopped in traffic at the Gardens corner (intersection of Bank St, North Road and Opoho Road) at about 11am, and there was a confused duck standing blocking traffic.
He was not crossing the road, just standing there, and even sat down on the road in front of traffic.
I got out of the vehicle and shooed him off the road back into the Gardens. He let me get very close to him, and I could clearly see bright green stains around and on his beak. I have never seen that before.
Given the proximity in place and time to the green stuff seen in Lindsay Creek, I question whether he had ingested some of the green substance and that had affected his behaviour.
Unfortunately I did not think to take a photo of him.
