Have a Belter for the Shelter

On Thursday, May 4, five Otago University students invite all to attend their fundraising event, Belter for the Shelter - a music event taking place at ReFuel Bar, in an effort to raise funds for the Dunedin Night Shelter.

The music line-up includes well known acts Albion Place and the Doo Rays, as well as Sam Halpin, Levine Lale and one more act to be confirmed. All this is going down for a handy $5 door ticket, bought before 11pm on the night, after which ticket prices will flick up to $10.

And after this talk-worthy show, for a few more pennies contribution, there'll even be a night BBQ at which to grab a hot sausage on your way out.

While many students huddle in blankets from the cold of their flats - not everyone is even this lucky. Whatever the story, the Dunedin Night Shelter is a worthy cause, providing a warm and peaceful roof over one's head to anyone in need, be it only one night or longer term. Furthermore, they run Phoenix Lodge, which provides accommodation for people, who for various possible reasons, struggle to get mainstream accommodation.

The event can be found advertised on Facebook or you may see posters plastered throughout Dunedin Central- and our acts and ReFuel Bar deserve a huge thank-you for helping this come together!

So, with such a great event planned, and 100% of proceeds to charity, students will be mad not to make the night of it and help out the Dunedin Night Shelter!
