Inaugural Wanaka Dash

The inaugural Wanaka Titans OCR event the Wanaka Dash will be held on Sunday, 27 October at Glendhu Station, Glendhu Bay, Wanaka.

The concept has been 5 years in the making and is now finally a reality. The owner of Glendhu Station, Mr John Mcrae was keen to see the event run on his property as he himself is now a passionate runner and outdoor person.

The added bonus for participants is that the Glendhu Camping ground is directly across from the event - perfect for the participants.

Around 245 participants will run, walk, splash, crawl, carry, drag and climb their way around a testing 7km circuit to cross the finish line and earn bragging rights as a Wanaka Titan. No technical obstacles are involved in this years event and unlike Spartan, there are no penalties for not completing an obstacle. All finishers will receive a Wanaka Titans finisher medal, a cold drink and a finishers tee.

Participation, fun and camraderie are the key factors of the event and as such there is a good mix of individuals and teams - everyone is encouraged to help each other regardless of if they in a team or not as it's not a race. For the kids there is a free course for them to play on while the parents play on the main course.

Entries for this year's event have closed but if you feel you have missed out, the entries for the 2020 event (Labour weekend again) will open on January 1 2020. So if you did miss out, but you are in the Wanaka area this Labour Weekend, why not drop out and check it out.
