Koputai Kids Afterschool Programme

West Harbour’s creative community has combined forces for an art auction to support Koputai Kids Afterschool and Holiday Programme.

Artists from around West Harbour including Manu Berry, Russell Moses and Alan Dove, are putting work into the auction, which will be held at the Town Hall on the night of Saturday, October 29.

Artists from the broader Dunedin community will also join West Harbour’s finest with Simon Kaan, Pamela Brown and Ewan McDougall taking part.

Organiser Jessamy George expects more than 60 items of art will be auctioned on the night.

“It’s amazing seeing the incredible diversity and quality of the art works in the auction. And the community, which relies upon the afterschool programme, is very grateful to all those taking part.

“Every year we need to fundraise to keep the afterschool programme going, to support the MSD finding which has more than halved the last three years.

“It felt like a good fit to have an art auction, in this very creative community of ours. And with more than 60 families using our service, and 12 part time and casual employees, there certainly is a huge motivation to keep the service running.”

As well as the high-profile artist auction, there will also be a silent auction of the children’s artwork. Local band, Seafog - a three piece from Port Chalmers - will play on the night, and a supper will be provided.

All works are available for viewing from 2pm on Saturday the 29th October at the Port Chalmers Town Hall, with the auction starting at 7pm.

The work can also be viewed on the face book page: Koputai Kids Art and Craft Auction.

Tickets are available via the facebook page, or call 021 103 2757.
