Lonely Anzac grave

On Anzac day, even the loneliest of graves is not forgotten.

Trooper Charles Risk lies in the isolated Nevis Cemetery, 24km from the nearest paved roads, yet people, strangers, still visit and leave poppies. This year, the Kiwi poppies are joined by a Royal British Legion Poppy, which has travelled over 12,000 miles (+ 24 km) to get there.

(The cemetery is in the Nevis Valley, 24km above Bannockburn, near Cromwell in Central Otago).
