Tracey Buist-Eastwick aged 58, is the heart of her family.
A devoted mother to her three children Jessica, Andrew & Matthew, and wife to Wayne Eastwick.
Tracey has been fighting, and continues to fight every day for what we all take for granted time!
ter spending over a year seeking answers from GPs, Tracey was finally diagnosed in March 2025 with an aggressive lymphoma and an extremely rare cancer called Mediastinal Grey Zone Lymphoma, with fewer than 500 known cases worldwide making it extremely rare with the last case in Christchurch over 5 years ago.
Since then, she has endured multiple rounds of intensive chemotherapy, countless hospital admissions, severe infections, RSV, pneumonia, COPD, and a blood clot in her lung. Despite every challenge, Tracey has continued to fight with incredible strength and determination.
After periods of remission, the cancer had returned multiple times. On 28 April 2026, Tracey and our family were devastated to learn that her cancer had returned again and that no further treatment options were available through the public health system because of lack of funding for blood cancers in the public system. She was given a prognosis of just 2–3 months.
Refusing to give up hope, Tracey sought second opinions and discovered there are private treatment options that will give her more time even cure her but at a huge cost. Every 21 days Tracey and her family have to find $18,200 due to the drug not being pharmac approved for lymphoma or her type of cancer.
Because it’s not approved by pharmac insurance won’t cover any of the cost. This cost is huge for the family that run a small family owned and operated business here in Christchurch for the last 35 years, called Eastray Manufacturing.
We have been fortunate to have family and friends in the USA, Australia and in New Zealand that have shared her page, also lucky to have the Rakaia fishing competition wrap there support around us as well through this difficult time.
We are trying to get her give a-little page out in to the hearts of New Zealanders to ask for help to save Tracey’s life even if it’s just to have more time with her family.
