Old Politics vs Ethical Politics

Is National an example of the old order of politics? Is what is described as the cut and thrust of politics in fact a self serving justification for an absence of ethics and integrity?

As the lead up to the election takes place I have watched the National Party expose itself for its true nature. A party that has deployed underhand tactics for years.

MP’s who have over time come to see this as “normal” political behaviour. Lets take the word political out and refer to it for what it is. Poor judgement, unethical behaviour, dishonest and deceitful. I would add to that bullying, and abusive. Is it any surprise the party is falling apart as the rot is exposed to the light of day?

When ethics and integrity are eroded what is left? Deceit, opportunity to blackmail, dishonesty, bullying, dictatorship, the erosion of democracy which in turn leads to disillusionment, despair, disrespect, disengagement and ultimately anarchy.

It is taking place all over the world as I write this. People rising up to resist the abuse of power. The cost to life is enormous, the pain and suffering immeasurable. For leaders of a certain ilk they react with an attitude of “crushing” any opposition. For me such a response is indicative of a bully. Someone unable to recognise or hear any view other than their own. Beware of such people.

The USA is a perfect example in my opinion of what you get when you vote purely on the party banner and ignore the character traits of those working under it.

Where those in office have shown themselves to be deceitful, dishonest, and lacking in ethics and integrity. Party loyalty over common sense, science, ethics and integrity.

I believe the world is looking for intelligent, empathetic, leaders with a strong moral compass and the highest ethics. The planet and humanity will simply not survive otherwise.

For us here in New Zealand I implore you to set the bar high. We need leaders and Government who have ethics and integrity, empathy and compassion, intelligence and the courage to forge a new path ahead. Let those be your guiding factors when deciding who to vote for. Be brave enough to think independently.

Our world is in crisis and each one of us has a responsibility to vote for not only personal interest. For the sake of all of us vote wisely. Step aside from party loyalty at all costs and actually take a good look at the character of those seeking election. For that is ultimately what will determine the type of decisions made in the future and determine how we navigate the storms ahead.
