Opinion: Immigration?

The formula of democracy include; freedom, education, tolerance, fair elections, acceptance of minorities.

The result for the democratic western world is, most of the populations live educated, secure, well-off lives. Another result, however, is less choice in political leanings, less inclination to use our votes, and enough education, all leading to complacency and lack of required rules.

We are now facing the most challenging times. We are easy targets for those who object to democracy. They see us as lazy, undisciplined, soft, rich and godless.

IS has done some good in awakening democracies and what the population stands for. Unfortunately our foundations have not kept up with the times.

We in a democracy have some discriminations we need to define; we virtually ban some ideologies say, fascism, but accept philosophies that roundly discriminate against other religions and humans. Decisions now are harder; and is shaking us to a dull 'awakeness'.

We have to strengthen our resolves and standards, and values. BREXIT and the American elections, refugees, and others murmurings are indications of our confusion.

We are asking for conflict within our own democracies allowing any discrimination. At what point do we wake up and how?
