A note to Anthony Harris from the Nature file on the silvereye growths.
Have now had 4 birds this winter with growths of various sizes on their face and body, and very sick birds at that. Looked cancerous and painful.
Sounds exactly like the description of the ones found by you in Lawrence..
I haven't take any photos, apologies. But it was very sad to see.
