The event is run by Sport Otago for all year 0-8 primary schools and encourages children to walk, skate, scooter or cycle to school.
The programme aims to encourage active transport to and from school to help reduce congestion at the school gate.
The Walk n’ Wheel Day was a part of a week long event, which runs in the Dunedin, Clutha and Waitaki regions this week, and in Central Otago next week.
It also includes a design-your-own poster competition, a colouring-in competition, and a social media competition, where family members can get involved as well.
