Monday's poem

Words

- Sue Heap

I do it myself
I live on words
I gobble them up,
meretricious, diligent,
cacophonous, harmonic,
niggardly, infamous, words;
they are my caviar, my fresh smoked salmon,
my Baileys cream, my Marie Brizard,
my hot chocolate with rum,
my seafood cocktail,
my lemon meringue pie,
my sleep machine,
my thief of time.

Sue Heap is a Dunedin poet.
