Pedestrians robbed at gunpoint in Christchurch

Four pedestrians were robbed at gunpoint in the early hours of this morning.

Police say the group were walking in Rose St, in Christchurch, when a red sedan-type car pulled up ahead of them.

Two people, described as wearing dark clothing, climbed out and approached the group on the footpath while two others remained in the car.

Police say a gun was then pointed at the pedestrians, who had their phones and bank cards stolen.

Police are making further inquiries and ask anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Acting Detective Sergeant Brad Greenstreet at Christchurch Police on (03) 363-7400.
