Book sale nets $24,200

The organisers of the 25th annual Alexandra Rotary book sale are pleased with the final tally of $24,200.

Rotarian and book sale convener Ken Cook said first-day takings were about $10,000 and were a good indication of the final figure - usually they make double overall what they make on the first day.

Between 40 and 50 tonnes of books were on sale at the Alexandra Community Centre from Boxing Day to December 30. All proceeds would go to Rotary, Mr Cook said.

Not all of the books were sold. Some of the remainders had been taken to the Central Otago WasteBusters depot for sale or disposal and others would be repriced for this year's Rotary book sale.
