The historic gold-mining town of Clyde is modest but lively.

The settlement, then called Upper Dunstan,  swelled to a population of about 14,000 during the gold rush in the 1860s.

It now has about 1000 people and  celebrates its past through its historic district of late-1800s buildings.

In May, the Central Otago District Council banned certain large trucks from traversing the precinct.

In the lower-right-hand corner is Dunstan Hospital, which caters for much of Central Otago and Wanaka,  excluding the Maniototo.
