Crews battling a fire at a vineyard near Alexandra this afternoon have extinguished the blaze.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fenz) spokesman said the fire was at one stage burning an area of about 600sqm at the Black Ridge Vineyard and Winery on Conroys Rd.

Several appliances from the Central Otago area were called and a helicopter with a monsoon bucket made several passes over the fire.
Shortly after 5pm, a Fenz spokesperson said the fire was out and three crews and a chopper were "closing down the scene".
