Dragon flies over Cromwell

As a SpaceX Dragon cargo capsule drifts over Central Otago, Cromwell (centre left) is visible below.

The photograph, taken from the International Space Station on January 13 while orbiting at an altitude of 409km, was recently released by Nasa.

The capsule was docked at the space station where it carried nearly 2200kg of cargo following its launched on December 15, aboard one of SpaceX's low-cost, reusable Falcon 9 rockets.

When the capsule returned it carried about 1860kg of cargo, science and technology demonstration samples.

CNBC reports SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk hopes the first short test flights of the company's massive rocket Starship, being built to transport up to 100 people to the moon and Mars will be this week.
