Eateries, hotels nominated

NIine venues in Otago and Southland have been selected as finalists in this year’s Hospitality New Zealand Awards for Excellence.

Erik’s Fish &  Chips in Wanaka is nominated for best newcomer in the food and beverage section, while the company’s Queenstown restaurant is up for excellence in marketing.

Pub on Wharf in Queenstown has been shortlisted for the best bar award.

Muskets and Moonshine, in Queenstown, is a finalist in the best redeveloped food and beverage category.

The region has two venues in with a chance of winning an award for best country hotel — the Cardrona Hotel  and the  Omakau Commercial Hotel. Wanaka’s Federal Diner has been shortlisted for  best  cafe  and the Edgewater Hotel, also in Wanaka,  is a finalist for the best hotel award.

The only Dunedin venue up for an award is Emersons Taproom, which has been recognised for excellence in training and staff development.

The winners will be announced  in Queenstown on September 27.
