Reports of a man pointing a gun at a daycare centre in Alexandra on Friday turned out to have involved a plastic toy cap gun.
Police were called to the incident about 3pm and spoke to a woman at a neighbouring address.
The gun turned out to be a plastic toy cap gun, a police spokesman said.
A report was taken and the offender warned.
