Emergency services responded to a head-on collision in Alexandra last night, police say.

Police were called to the crash, at the intersection of the Clyde Alexandra Rd and Airport Rd, shortly after 6pm.

Senior Constable Arnold Hooykaas, of Alexandra, said one vehicle was travelling towards Alexandra and the other towards Clyde.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand Clyde fire officer Richard Davidson said it was a ''nose-to-nose, head-on'' collision between the two vehicles.

One fire crew from Alexandra and one from Clyde responded, along with two support vehicles, he said.

No-one was injured in the crash, St John said last night.
