Horticulturist wins $1500

Andrew Rae, of Cromwell, won $1500 in the New Zealand Young Horticulturist of the Year competition held in Auckland this week.

The 27-year-old landscaper was placed third in the market innovation project.

He competed over two days against young people (aged 30 and under) from throughout the country who are working in the horticultural sector. To qualify they had all won their sector competitions.

Wairarapa viticulturist Braden Crosby was the overall winner and took home a prize package worth more than $13,500 including $7500 for travel.
