Masterplan workshops begin

The first of five workshops to shape a masterplan for Cromwell was  held this week.

The workshops were the first step in the process to develop an "integrated masterplan" that would provide a framework for managing Cromwell’s future growth, Central Otago District Council  executive manager planning and environment Louise van der Voort said.

The Cromwell Community Board voted to develop the masterplan programme, to be funded from reserves, in March this year.

Representatives from across Cromwell’s community and business sectors have been invited to the workshops, together with Cromwell Community Board members and relevant council staff.

The workshops aimed to confirm today’s issues, establish a vision for the future and agree the objectives for the masterplan’s programme and projects, Ms van der Voort said.

The wider Cromwell community would be able to contribute their ideas as the project developed over the coming months, she said.
