Enjoying the Weaver Estate Wines "Skin on Skin'' orange wine at the 9th Annual New Releases Tasting at Olivers in Clyde yesterday are (from left) Weaver Estate owner Liz Weaver, of Alexandra, and her friend Carolyn Russell, of Dunedin, and Dunedin friends Michael White, Sharon White and Sheryl Mitchell.

The orange wine - the only one of its type at the event - is an interpretation of an ancient style of winemaking during which wines take on an orange colour extracted during fermentation when white wine varieties are macerated/fermented with their skins.

Hundreds of Central Otago residents and visitors tried wines from almost 20 wineries at the event, which featured wineries from the Alexandra and Clyde basin.
