The timing of a proposed upgrade of Clyde's heritage precinct will be adjusted to tie in with streetworks for Clyde's wastewater project.

Central Otago District Council infrastructure services executive manager Julie Muir told councillors this week there was no point beginning the heritage upgrade and then having to "dig up the street again to put pipes in" for Clyde's new wastewater system.

The three-stage wastewater project will result in Clyde's wastewater being piped to Alexandra's Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The heritage project will improve parking, public spaces, footpaths and accessibility in the Clyde precinct.

Ms Muir said all three stages of the heritage upgrade were being designed so "we're ready to go" after the pipework was completed.
