With the days shortening and the temperatures falling, winter sports are something to be considered.

IceInLine skating rink, in Alexandra, will be offering a range of options for those wanting to try something new.

Curling will be the first winter ice sport to start with a Have a Go Day on Easter Sunday at the indoor rink, next to IceInLine.

Instructors will offer tuition in both traditional crampet and modern hack styles of curling.

The curling season will continue from Easter until late September.

However, bookings will be available to groups and individuals until Labour weekend in October.

Anzac Day will be the official opening day for the season of IceInLine’s outdoor 1800sqm Olympic-size ice rink under the $1.4million roof that was completed last year.

The roof, which protects the ice from rain and sun, means the skating season will be extended by about four weeks. Those on the ice still have the experience of being outdoors with the open sides.

Figure skating and ice hockey will get under way from Anzac Day.

Social hack outdoor curling will also be played on the outdoor rink on Thursday evenings.
