Members of the Alexandra Youth Forum (from left), Youth worker Jim de Thierry, Kate Mulvihill, Paige Luff, Pip McNabb, Alex Fisher, Jacob Shirley and Nakia Randle thank Lana Henderson, on behalf of her father, Dave Henderson.

Members of the Alexandra Youth Forum attended a fun day held at the Alexandra tennis courts in Pioneer Park yesterday.

Youth workerJim de Thierry said although the courts had already been officially opened, the day was about thanking the people who made it possible, particularly Dave Henderson.

"Mr Henderson did $40,000 worth of work for nothing and if it wasn't for him, the courts would not have gone ahead when they did."

The Alexandra Youth Forum had been campaigning to have the courts built in Pioneer Park since 2002.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.

You can help us continue to bring you local news you can trust by becoming a supporter.
