Southern Health, a new health services website promised as part of the regional primary and community strategy, has gone live.
The site, a joint effort between the Southern District Health Board, WellSouth primary health organisation and the Community Health Council, amalgamates contact details for about 500 health service providers across the region and provides general health advice and information, plus regional health news.
The Community Health Council identified the need for such a website at its first meeting, member Paula Waby said.
"A lot of people felt that health information needed to be much easier to find, and more connected," she said.
"One of the things that was important to me was that it would be accessible for disabled people."
SDHB chief executive Chris Fleming said the new site demonstrated the interconnected way the health system operated and "makes it easier for patients and the community to find the information they need".
