Several people have been injured in separate crashes on southern roads today.
In the most recent crash, traffic was diverted for a time after a two-car crash near Clyde in Central Otago.
A police spokeswoman said two cars crashed on State Highway 8 about 6.30pm.
The crash blocked both lanes of the highway, near Young Lane, and traffic was diverted down Muttontown Rd. The road is now open again.
A St John spokesman said a person sustained minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Dunstan Hospital.
Earlier, four people were injured after two vehicles crashed south of Alexandra about 5pm.
A St John spokesman said four people with moderate injuries were taken to Alexandra Medical Centre after the crash on Alexandra-Fruitlands Rd.
Meanwhile, a woman sustained moderate injuries after a car crash near Invercargill today.
A St John spokesman said a woman in her 50s was injured when the car she was in left State Highway 1 between Woodlands and Invercargill about 4.40pm.
The woman was taken by ambulance to Southland Hospital's emergency department.
A police spokeswoman said the crash investigation was continuing, she said.
