Bella Simon, who was visiting from Cairns, fed llamas on display at the East Otago Field Days yesterday.

Recent rain meant boggy conditions for the first day of the field days at the showgrounds in Palmerston. More than 100 exhibitors have stalls selling everything from soap and sheep to fertiliser and food.

It was officially opened by Dunedin Mayor Dave Cull. The event continues today from 9am to 5pm and will be attended by Primary Industries Minister Nathan Guy.
