The Milford Road is to close on Saturday evening due to a moderate avalanche risk overnight.
The road (State Highway 94 Te Anau to Milford) was closed earlier on Saturday due to snow but, once cleared, reopened for part of the morning and afternoon.
However, the Milford Road Alliance advised it would close again from Hollyford at 5pm.
More snow showers were forecast between 6am to 11am on Sunday, and 1cm to 2cm of snow may settle on the road above 700 metres.
Snow showers were also expected to affect the Crown Range linking Queenstown and Wanaka on Sunday morning.
Between 7am to midday, 1cm to 2cm of snow may settle on the road above 700 metres.
