A Hampden man arrested after allegedly firing shots on the town's main street on Friday night has been remanded in custody after appearing in the Dunedin District Court yesterday before Justice of the Peace Ashley Broad.
Christopher Ronald Charles Hazelwood (46) was remanded in custody by consent to appear again in the Oamaru District Court tomorrow.
He was charged with unlawfully possessing a .22 calibre pistol, recklessly discharging a firearm (a .22 calibre pistol), and driving while disqualified, at Hampden, on November 7.
He did not plead to the charges.
Hazelwood was represented by counsel Helgi Henderson, with Tim Hambleton appearing for the police.
Oamaru police are still investigating the incident which allegedly occurred about 10.30pm, and appealed for witnesses to contact them or Crimestoppers.
