Crew back to tackle Danseys Pass blaze

Rural firefighters will this morning continue their attack on a blaze in the Danseys Pass area after a controlled burn got out of control yesterday.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said the fire started off Duthie Rd yesterday morning, and had grown to 70ha by 4pm.

Three helicopters were being used to fight the blaze, which was not threatening any buildings.

A Fenz spokesman said last night the fire was 95% contained.

Firefighting was suspended at 7pm, and will be resumed today.
