Drink-drive charge after car rolls

A 37-year-old Invercargill man was fortunate to avoid injury after he rolled his vehicle on State Highway 83 near Parsons Rock at Lake Aviemore on Sunday.

The single-vehicle crash happened about 9pm.

The driver, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was asked to undergo a breath-alcohol test at the scene after police arrived, which returned a result of 880mcg.

He was charged with drink-driving and will appear in the Oamaru District Court tomorrow.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
