Former Black Caps fast bowler Shane Bond chats with Waitaki Boys' High School cricketers outside the school's Hall of Memories on Saturday.

Bond, who claimed 87 wickets during his 18-test career, spoke at the school as part of a black tie dinner, dance and charity auction fundraiser to send junior and senior teams on a tour to Melbourne next year.

The senior team will comprise players who have played in the school's first XI and North Otago age-group teams, and the junior team will be made up of year 9 and 10 players who it is hoped will benefit from playing cricket as part of a touring team.
