The 3m channel to the harbour required for a dredge to enter is being established using a causeway created this month.
Waitaki District Council property manager Renee Julius said the council was pleased with the progress made despite the work only being able to take place at low tide during daylight hours and recent bad weather putting it about a week and a-half behind schedule.
The work is expected to be completed next month.
