A Royal New Zealand Air Force C-130 Hercules lifts off from Oamaru Airport yesterday, as part of Exercise Skytrain.

The exercise is being carried out by 40 Squadron, consolidating skills learnt at Base Auckland, and using one of the air force’s C-130 Hercules.

The aircraft and crew touched down at the airfield north of Oamaru, in one of the daily sorties there between now and Friday, RNZAF spokeswoman Natala Faith said.

The Hercules will fly around the lower South Island, including low-level tactical flying, and will also be landing at Timaru Airport.
