Former All Black captain Richie McCaw has agreed to have a statue of himself erected in Kurow, North Otago.

The project is a Kurow Museum committee initiative aimed at acknowledging the ‘‘outstanding rugby career . .. of our local Kurow lad’’, committee chairman John Sturgeon said.
The effigy is to be created by Oamaru sculptor Don Paterson and while it is not yet known what the statue will be made of, or exactly where it will be placed, Mr Sturgeon hoped itwould be ready for placement early next year.
