Motorcyclist injured in crash

A man was airlifted to Dunedin Hospital with serious injuries after a motorcycle crash north of Palmerston yesterday.

St John spokesman Gerard Campbell said St John was contacted at 2.09pm, after a report a motorcycle had left Horse Range Rd and gone down a bank near Trotters Gorge.

The man suffered serious injuries.

A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said crews from Palmerston and Waikouaiti had earlier been sent to the scene at the request of St John, where they prepared a landing site for the helicopter and comforted the man before the helicopter crew arrived.
