
Mrs Algar, who is the council's active transport co-ordinator, will be working on the Waitaki District Council's award-winning community safety initiatives, such as the Waitaki Guardians and TAG anti-graffiti projects.
She will also run road safety initiatives and education programmes like Drive 2 Survive.
She has replaced Alison Banks, who moved to Australia to work for the Alpine Shire Council, 300km northeast of Melbourne.
