One dead after workplace accident in North Otago

One person is dead after a workplace accident in North Otago this evening.

A police spokeswoman said it was called to the incident near the small town of Tapui, inland from Oamaru, just after 7.30pm.

One person had died and their death had been referred to the coroner.

Police earlier said a helicopter had been called after a crash on Crown Hill Rd between Victoria Hill Rd and Tokarahi-Tapui Rd, but the spokeswoman said she had since had confirmation the incident was a workplace accident.
