Police in Oamaru are trying to find the owner of a firearm (pictured) they believe was stolen.

Police arrested a 44-year-old man last Thursday after receiving a report he was in possession of a sawn-off shotgun and had made threats against another person. Police described the gun as single-barrelled and able to be dismantled into two parts. It had ``distinctive black tape'' wrapped around the stock pistol grip area, appeared aged and had rust on the barrel and ``the make and model are unreadable''. As the barrel had been sawn off the shotgun might appear short. Anyone who recognises the gun is asked to contact Constable Dean Paterson, of Oamaru, on 021 191-4792.
