Police report two driving incidents early in morning

Two in the morning appears to be a popular time in the Waitaki district.

An Oamaru police spokeswoman said yesterday morning, a 30-year-old Oamaru man was stopped by police in Thames Highway, and had a breath-alcohol level of 534mcg.

He will appear in the Oamaru District Court on February 10.

At the same time, Oamaru police were called to a crash in Kurow-Duntroon Rd, near Otiake.

A 19-year-old Kurow woman was driving when she had an argument with her passengers, and drove through a fence into an empty paddock.

She had been drinking, and police were awaiting the results of blood tests, the spokeswoman said.

No-one was injured but all passengers were taken to Oamaru Hospital as a precaution.

Inquiries into the crash were continuing.
