A public meeting to discuss Oamaru Hospital and health services in the Waitaki district has been called by Waitaki District Health Services, the company that owns and operates the hospital.
The company has recently come under fire from the public for its review into the hospital’s kitchen services and the way that has been communicated.
Waitaki Mayor Gary Kircher has also been critical of the way the issue had been handled, saying the company had to be more proactive in its communication processes at next week’s special council meeting.
A statement from the company yesterday said the meeting, to be held at the Waitaki Boys’ High School auditorium on Wednesday, was to "clarify and answer questions about Oamaru Hospital and health services".
Members of the hospital’s board and management staff would be at the meeting to answer questions from the public, Waitaki District Health Services chairman Chris Swann said.
The meeting is scheduled to start at 7.30pm and will be facilitated by Archdeacon Bernard Wilkinson, of Oamaru.
