A draft code of practice for stock crossing has been released by the Waitaki District Council and it wants to know what people think of it.
On Friday, it started consulting on the draft code, which clarifies when a stock crossing is required and the possible support available to farmers.
"The council is keen for the community views on this document and hope it will provide greater certainty to the requirements and process involved in complying with the roading bylaw," assets roading manager Geoff Young said.
Copies of the draft code can be seen on the council's website, its offices at Oamaru and Palmerston and libraries at Hampden, Kurow, Omarama and Otematata.
Submissions close on September 12.
